Pennsylvania State police have confirmed one person is dead after a vehicle caught fire along Interstate 81 in Dauphin County early Tuesday. It happened around 3:15 a.m. in the northbound lanes near mile marker 74 in West Hanover Township.

The body of a 33-year-old Hummelstown man was found inside the burning vehicle, said Trooper Robert Hicks, a state police spokesman.

The investigation has closed the northbound lanes between exit 72 and exit 77.

No other details about the incident were immediately available.

Detour Information:

I-81 North is CLOSED between Exits 72 & 77, due to a vehicle accident. All I-81 North traffic must exit the Interstate at Exit 72. The following Blue Detour has been established. From Exit 72, follow North Mountain Rd. to next traffic signal. Turn LEFT onto US 22 East for 4.2 miles to traffic signal at PA 39. Turn LEFT onto PA 39 West, 1.1 miles to entrance ramp for I-81 North.
