A Dover man is facing charges after police say he drove into the front of a building and then fled the scene. It happened around 2am on on February 2nd at the Hurst Building, 29 South Union Street, Middletown. Police say Rueben Jason Estrada, 30, of Dover, struck the building, causing serious damage, and then fled the scene.   Middletown police officers apprehended the subject several blocks away in the vicinity of the 7-11 Store on East Main Street.   Estrada was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when police caught up to him. Estrada did not have the owner’s permission to operate the vehicle he was driving, either.

Estrada is charged with DUI – Incapable of Safe Driving, DUI – Highest Rate of Alcohol, Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident, Accidents Involving Damage to Unattended Property, and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicles.

Estrada was transported to the Dauphin County Judicial Center for processing on the charges. He refused to submit to chemical testing to determine intoxication at that time. He was committed to Dauphin County Prison when it was discovered that he was wanted on warrants issued in York County.  He faces preliminary arraignment on these charges and a preliminary hearing in the matter at a later date.

PennDOT will be notified of his refusal to submit to chemical testing, which could result in suspension of his operating privileges in addition to any penalty imposed if convicted of the charges filed.
