LIGHT SNOW SUNDAY

Clouds and a few flurries hang across the region this evening, and expect them to stick around through the overnight period.  A few additional snow showers are possible through the night.  A light dusting at best is expected for parts of the area.  Lows fall into the teens.  An approaching clipper system brings the chance for light snow Sunday afternoon (beginning west around 1-3 P.M.).  By evening (roughly 6-8 P.M. east), it tapers to a few flurries.  Most areas see a dusting to an inch, just enough to add some fresh powder.  Some spots could pick up an additional half an inch or an inch, with the best chance for this being mainly to the north and west.  Highs are in the middle to upper 20s.

DRY AND COLD THROUGH MIDWEEK

High pressure slips into the Lower Susquehanna Valley by Monday, bringing an arctic air mass with it.  There will be plenty of sunshine Monday and Tuesday, but we’ll have to contend with several frigid mornings and afternoons.  Highs are in the 20s through Wednesday, and Tuesday and Wednesday morning, lows could reach the single digits!  Wednesday begins with sunshine, but the potential for a storm Thursday brings clouds into the region during the afternoon.

WATCHING THURSDAY

We’ve got our eyes on a potential storm Thursday.  Right now, it’s way too early to make a call with high confidence on what to expect.  For now, it’s a chance for rain and snow through the day.  Models are conflicting on the development of the storm, where it tracks, and how much cold air is locked in place.  The cold air issue determines if it’s a mainly snow event or if mixing with rain occurs.  This is why it’s too early to make a call, but as the computer models sort through the details over the next several days, we’ll keep you updated.  Beyond that, it looks like the storm (if it even happens) clears out by Friday afternoon.  Temperatures are near seasonable averages into the weekend, with a chance for rain or snow showers on Saturday.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
