A boil advisory is in effect for about 200 United Water Pennsylvania customers on the southwest side of Mechanicsburg. A water main break involving a 12 inch water main in Hampden Township this morning impacted water pressure.  A water company spokesperson says a 17 foot long section of new main has been installed.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection issued the boil water advisory which remains in effect unto further notice. Water quality sampling over two consecutive days must be performed with test results showing that water quality was ucompromised before the advisory can be lifted.

All 200 customers affected either received a recorded phone message or written notice at their door from United Water about the boil water advisory.
