U.S. Marshals arrest Army deserter working in Lebanon County

The United State Marshals Service arrest a U.S. Army Captain who went absent without leave in Lebanon County.  Captain Beniah Nwankwo, 33, was listed as a deserter on July 23, 2012 by the Army. He was listed as AWOL from his unit located at the the Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Captain Nwankwo entered the U.S. Army in 2009 as a Medical Physician Resident.

Investigators developed a lead that Captain Nwankwo might be in south central Pennsylvania working as a physician. He was arrested this morning without incident in the 400 block of East Lincoln Way in Myerstown. At the time of his arrest, he was working at the Stone Ridge Nursing and Retirement Center.

Captain Nwankwo is scheduled to appear before a federal judge on Thursday before being turned over to the Army for final disposition.
