The reprieve from the bitter winter is coming to a close, but we’ll enjoy one more mild day before a return to the cold. Temperatures fall out of the 50s through the evening and clouds increase a bit through the overnight. Low temperatures fall near or just below freezing, so watch out for some more icy spots. More clouds are expected Sunday as our next system heads this way, and a few late day sprinkles are possible. Highs reach the middle 40s. Those spotty sprinkles turn to snow showers during the evening. Models are coming into better agreement that a heftier pocket of snow quickly clips the region before exiting by daybreak. With temperatures falling below freezing through the overnight, it will make it difficult for snow to stick initially, so it looks like minor accumulations at best from this one. Most areas see a coating to an inch of snow at best, but along the south and southeastern parts of the region there’s a better chance for an inch, perhaps as much as two inches in some spots.

THE COLD IS BACK

The cold, winter air returns Monday, dropping high temperatures into the 30s despite plenty of sunshine. Models continue to hint at light snows on and off for Tuesday and Wednesday from two separate systems. The lack of consistency with timing and intensity makes it difficult to pinpoint exact details at this time, but we’ll monitor the set up over the next couple of days.  Either way, the cold remains with highs near or just above the freezing mark.

MORE OF THE SAME

A colder wave knocks temperatures into the 20s Thursday and Friday.  There’s sunshine for Thursday, but Friday clouds increase through the day. Today’s long range models are dry for Saturday, but are indicating activity off the coast. For now, a strong area of high pressure to our north keeps things at bay. But since there has been indication of a system over the past several days, we’ll closely keep an eye on this one to see if anything comes of it!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
