Police in York County are trying to figure out who shot a therapy dog while he was in his back yard early Monday morning.
Barney Fife is a 4 1/2 year-old English Bulldog. He was shot in the left side around 3:30 a.m. while outside at his home on Cypress Road in Dover Township. Barney provides comfort to hospice patients in the York area.
His owner, a retired police officer, says Barney is not doing well.
He’s hoping another trip to the veterinarian’s office tomorrow will help ease the pain. Barney is on antibiotics, however the projectile has not been surgically removed because Bulldogs typically do not survive undergoing anesthesia.
If you have any information on this shooting, you are asked to contact Northern York County Regional Police at 717-292-3647.
