Starting at around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, depending upon the weather, construction crews will restrict southbound traffic to a single lane on Interstate 83 through the York Split in Lemoyne, eastern Cumberland County. The single-lane traffic restriction is necessary so that repairs can be made to the right lane and shoulder area through the construction project. The pavement in this area is very rough, with numerous potholes.
Motorists are asked to be alert to this operation and to slow down when approaching and traveling through the construction project at the York Split. The repair operation should be finished and southbound I-83 restored to two lanes of traffic by early afternoon.
Please note that a similar operation at this location last month created substantial traffic backlogs on southbound I-83 through the construction zone, as well as on the eastbound approach on Route 581 to southbound I-83.
