Local folks channel their inner polar bear to take a cold plunge in York County.

Despite cold weather these brave souls happily dipped their toes and more into the Susquehanna River this afternoon. Each plunger raises money before the plunge, for special Olympics York County.

The event postponed several times before because of the weather but drew a large turnout today.

GARDENER says: “People having fun… you know… everyone having a good time. I know some people were able to plunge because it was postponed, some weren’t able to but they still support our organization and you know… hopefully we’ll be out again next year. But I think our turnout was great, everyone seemed to have a good time.” Krista Gardener, Fundraising Coordinator

The York County Polar Plunge benefits nearly 300 special Olympics athletes of York County.
