Mayor C. Kim Bracey has declared a snow emergency for the City of York for Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 4 P.M. Vehicles must be removed from the following snow emergency routes:
Market Street, City limit to City limit
Philadelphia Street, City limit to Carlisle Avenue
Queen Street, City limit to Arch Street
George Street, City limit to City limit
Princess Street, City limit to City limit
Duke Street, Jackson Street to North Street
W. King Street from S. Beaver to S. George Streets
Beaver Street from North Street to W. College Avenue
All vehicles must be removed from snow emergency routes by Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 4 P.M.
If vehicles are not removed by the date and time ordered above, they will be ticketed and towed.
Residents can park at the King Street, Market Street and Philadelphia Street garages for free during the duration of the snow emergency and at the city lots listed below. Free parking is also available at the following city owned parking lots:
Lot #2 – 300 block of W. King Street
Lot #3 – 150 S. Duke Street
Lot 3A – Newton & Howard
Lot #7 – 600 block of West Mason Avenue
Lot #11 – Duke and Princess Street
Lot #12 – 700 block East Mason Avenue
Lot #14 – Penn and St. Paul Streets
Lot #17 – 200 block of W. Market Street rear (Mason Avenue)
Allen Field Lot
Lafayette Plaza – 200 W. Philadelphia Street
Rabbit Transit buses will be running and are an alternative means of transportation.
What are Snow Emergency Routes?
Snow emergency routes are specially designated and marked roads in the City, which are the top priority for snow plowing. When the Mayor declares a snow emergency situation, parking on these roads will not be permitted.
What Happens If I Do Not Move My Vehicle?
Vehicles that are not moved by the deadline will be ticketed and towed. They will be taken to an impound lot. The owner can retrieve the vehicle by paying the towing charge and any additional charges. Contact York City Police at 846-1234 if your car has been towed.
Residents should listen to local radio and television stations or log on to the City’s web site at www.yorkcity.org for the announcement of the removal of the snow emergency. It will also be released to local newspapers.
