The Lancaster County Coroner identified a female pedestrian killed when she was struck by a car as Catherine Dowling, 52, of Lancaster. Dowling was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The crash happened about 12:38 Wednesday afternoon.
Preliminary results of an investigation indicated that a 1998 Cadillac Seville driven Harold White, 81, of Lancaster was southbound on North Water Street at Lemon Street. While passing through the intersection, the Cadillac was struck by a 1996 Ford E250 van driven by Thomas Hogge, Jr., 50, also of Lancaster. The van was headed west on West Lemon Street. When the van struck the car, White lost control and struck Dowling in the area of the southwest corner of the intersection.
Police say their investigation continues.
