There’s a lot to smile about these days for York College’s women’s basketball coach Betsy Witman.  Her Spartans are 25-2, Capital Athletic Conference Champions and host the first two rounds of the NCAA Division III Tournament this weekend.   That’s quite an advantage considering York is a perfect 15-0 at home.   They start four seniors and have the experience needed to make a deep run.

“We have really coachable kids that have a high basketball IQ and that helps as well,” Witman said.  “They’ve been in the close games, been in the overtime games, especially this year.  We’ve been able to really pull out a lot of those close games against quality competition.

York plays LaRoche College at 7pm in the first round tomorrow at Charles Wolf Gymnasium.   Lebanon Valley faces Baldwin Wallace in the opener of the doubleheader at 5 o’clock.
