A portion of Interstate 83 northbound will be restricted to a single lane over the weekend in Shrewsbury Township near the Pennsylvania and Maryland border, according to PennDOT. Crews are working to repair a dip in the road caused by a deteriorating pipe.

PennDOT spokesman Greg Penny said the traffic restriction will begin at 9 p.m. Friday and continue throughout the weekend until work is completed.

Drivers are asked to be alert and to slow down when approaching and traveling through the work zone.

Between 19,000 and 20,000 vehicles travel on this portion of northbound I-83 on a daily basis, Penny said.
