The northbound lanes of Interstate 83 in Shrewsbury Township have been restored to two lanes of traffic. Crews worked overnight to repair a dip in the road near the Pennsylvania and Maryland border.
The dip was created by a deteriorating pipe located more than 20 feet under the pavement. PennDOT officials say the condition of the pipe still needs to be addressed.
Repairs are expected to be done within the next few weeks when material for insertion of a pipe liner becomes available, said PennDOT spokesman Greg Penny.
Between 19,000 and 20,000 vehicles travel on this portion of northbound I-83 on a daily basis.
