Abraham Lincoln for sale?  It seems that way!  A wax museum in Gettysburg, Adams County is placing some of its life-sized historical figures up for auction.  The American Civil War Wax Museum is ushering in change by placing its older wax figures and antique items on the auction block.  The museum recently closed and plans to reopen later this year.  Many items have been at the museum for more than 50 years.  Facilitators say the changes are necessary to keep the upcoming generation engaged in history.

Tammy Myers, President of Gettysburg Heritage Center says, “We need to be catering to a new market, and today’s students are more tech savvy, and that’s what they’re looking for in their experiences. We’re in the entertainment business, so we need to be entertaining as well as educating.”

The auction will be held Saturday at nine am.  It’s free to attend, but anyone interested in bidding must register.  Previews for the auction will be held Wednesday and Friday from 12 to 5 pm and Thursday from 4 to 8 pm.
