PennDOT Engineering District 8 today announced that concrete pavement rehabilitation work will begin March 17, weather permitting, on a 15-mile section of southbound U.S. Route 15 from just north of the Hunterstown interchange at Route 394 to the Pennsylvania/Maryland State Line in Adams County.

This section of U.S. Route 15 South averages almost 9,900 vehicles traveled daily.

The $12,620,075 contract was awarded on July 25, 2013, to New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc. of New Enterprise, Bedford County, and includes shoulder replacement, roadway base repair, concrete pavement patching and spall repair, concrete bridge deck repair, guiderail and sign installation, and new pavement markings.

PennDOT advises travelers that from March 17 through the fall they will encounter a long-term, around-the-clock, single-lane restriction for up to eight miles on a section of U.S. Route 15 South between Hunterstown the Pennsylvania/Maryland State Line as construction crews repair concrete pavement and shoulders in preparation for contract paving.

Work under this construction contract is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2015.

Travelers are advised to be alert for this operation, to obey work zone signs, and to slow down when approaching and traveling through work zones, not only for their safety, but for the safety of the road crews.
