Police are charging a former official at Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Cumberland County with stealing more than $73,000.
Robert Joseph Wood Jr., 50, of Carlisle, was quartermaster of VFW Post 477 in North Middleton Township when he allegedly embezzled post funds between May 2011 and June 2012, police said.
North Middleton Township Police began the investigation into Wood in November 2012 after they received a complaint from leadership within the VFW.
On Tuesday, Wood Surrendered before a district judge and was arraigned on charges of theft, money laundering, receiving stolen property, and unlawful use of a computer.
He was released on 5,000 unsecured bail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 14.
