Authorities are asking some residents of Penn Township, Lancaster County to boil their water until further notice.
According to a press release from Severn Services, the Penn Township Public Water System experienced a loss of positive pressure in an area of the drinking water distribution system, due to an accident today. A section of the drinking water distribution system had to be shut down to stop a significant water leak.
This only affects public water supply customers who have lost water pressure that live on Doe Run Road, East End Drive, West End Drive and Ditz Drive. Officials ask that residents in those areas not drink the water without boiling it first.
Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparations until further notice.
Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. Effected customers will receive a hand-delivered notice.
