The York County community opened their arms on Saturday and welcomed a new habitat family to the area.

Members of the Jacobus Lioness Club organized and hosted a meet and greet, so people could get to know their soon-to-be neighbors, the Hanline family.  Habitat for Humanity is currently building a home along Meadow Street for the Hanline’s and their son, Allen, who is physically and mentally disabled.  The building project has been completely funded by donations from local businesses, churches, and individuals. Saturday’s meet and greet event was held at the Jacobus Fire Hall, where dozens of community members came out to say hello.

Laurie Hanline, Habitat for Humanity home recipient says, “I look forward to just being apart of this community where everybody is taking care of everybody and everybody is watching out for each other to be apart of that kind of community that tight-knit small community is something I’ve always wanted.”

The Hanline’s home is close to being completed.  A move-in date and home dedication is scheduled for March 29th.
