The Solanco School Board has approved the hiring Dr. Brian J. Bliss as Superintendent of the Solanco School District. Dr. Bliss’ first day as Superintendent will be June 30. He will succeed current Superintendent Dr. Martin Hudacs, who is retiring after a 39-year career in education, including the last seven years as Solanco Superintendent. Dr. Hudacs’ last day will be June 27.

Dr. Bliss, who has been Assistant Superintendent in the Solanco School District since 2007, said, “I am constantly humbled by the notion that Solanco’s parents are sending us their best every day.  Each child that steps off the bus every morning represents the hopes and dreams of the entire Solanco community, and I’m thrilled that I get to be a part of the team that is working to unlocking the potential in each child. We pledge to continue to provide our best to honor that trust the parents place in us.”

Prior to coming to Solanco in 2007, Dr. Bliss served as Principal of Pequea Valley High School (2006-2007), and Assistant Principal at Pequea Valley Intermediate School (2002-2003). He began his career in education as an English teacher at Manheim Township High School (1994 to 2002). He is also an instructor at Pennsylvania State University in Lancaster, and he has also served as an adjunct instructor at Reading Area Community College.
