Congressman McGovern visits Hemingway estate in Cuba

hemingwayMassachusetts Congressman Jim McGovern visited author, Ernest Hemingway’s former home in Havana, Cuba.

The visit celebrates a joint US/Cuban effort to preserve and digitize Hemingway’s personal effects.

Experts came together to restore 2,000 letters and 3,000 photos.

They also restored countless drafts, as well as parts of novels and stories which were stored in the estate’s humid basement.

Congressman McGovern said, ‚ÄúHemingway has brought us together over the years. I hope he brings us together again and I hope our relations between our two countries improve.”

Hemingway lived in the house from 1939 to 1960.
