Starting at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 24, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation will close a portion of Route 322 to thru-traffic for ten days between Meadow Lane in Derry Township, Dauphin County, and Campbelltown Road (State Route 3019) in South Londonderry Township, Lebanon County. The road closure is necessary for construction crews to replace a bridge structure over Spring Creek with a box culvert. The bridge is located just east of Meadow Lane in Derry Township. This portion of Route 322 carries an average daily traffic volume of 15,693 vehicles.
A signed detour will direct motorists around the bridge closure by way of Route 743, Route 422, South Lingle Avenue, and Campbelltown Road.
Route 322 is scheduled to reopen to traffic by 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 3.
PennDOT has contracted with Blooming Glen Contractors of Blooming Glen, Pennsylvania, to conduct this bridge replacement project at a cost of $649,317. Though the road is scheduled to reopen by April 3, the overall project is not scheduled to wrap up until the end of April. During that time, motorists should not encounter any traffic lane restrictions in the morning between 6 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. or in the afternoon between 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. During the day, however — between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. — motorists should be prepared to encounter single-lane traffic restrictions, with flaggers assisting them through the work area.
