Pennsylvania State Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man reported as missing and possibly endangered.  Maxwell Duesterhoeft, 21, was reported missing on March 22 by friends who said he walked away from a party along the 600 block of Pine Road in East Hanover Township.

According to witness reports, Duesterhoeft, of Etters, was attending a party at a picnic area on March 21 when he removed his shoes and walked towards the edge of the Swatara Creek. Police say his friends contacted 911 after they became concerned when he did not return to the party. Investigators located Duesterhoeft’s vehicle at the scene.

State police searched the surrounding area on Saturday and Sunday near where he went missing. The search included a state police helicopter and ground personnel.

Authorities found Duesterhoeft’s footprints leading into the Swatara Creek– just west of the picnic area.

Crews searched the water for the missing man but have not been able to locate him.

Duesterhoeft is described as 5-foot-11, 160-170 pounds, with light brown hair and a brown beard. He was last wearing a red sweatshirt, blue jeans and no shoes.

Anyone with information on Duesterhoeft’s whereabouts is asked to contact police at 717-865-2194.
