Heroin ring tied to overdose death indicted on federal charges

Five people connected with drug trafficking in Franklin and Cumberland counties are indicted by a federal grand jury in Harrisburg.

Ashley Gries, 19, Danny Guy Forrester, 48, Michael Anthony DeCarlo, 31, and Jeffrey Lynn Wright, Jr., 31, all of the Shippensburg along with Gabriel John Stouffer, 30, of Newburg were indicted on March 19th, but wasn’t announced until today.  The indictment alleges that the defendants engaged in heroin trafficking in the Franklin and Cumberland County areas from October 2013 through March 2015.

Gries, Forrester, and Stouffer were also charged with drug trafficking offenses that led to the death of Kyle A. Golter, 21, in Lurgan Township on February 7th.  The Franklin County Coroner determined that the cause of his death was the result of heroin toxicity.

Forrester, DeCarlo and Wright are being detained pending trial. Gries and Stouffer have a detention hearing scheduled for next month.

If convicted, Gries, Forrester and Stouffer each face a maximum sentence of life in person with a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years imprisonment.  DeCarlo and Wright face a statutory maximum sentence of 40 years in federal prison.
