Boxers got in the ring for five professional bouts at the Camp Curtin YMCA in Harrisburg Saturday night.

Fighters from Harrisburg, Gettysburg and Lemoyne all participated. The event was called “Hands Up Guns Down,” and it was aimed at raising money and awareness to cut back violence in the city.

“With all the violence going on in our city, we wanted to raise awareness and do something positive in the community and show the community that there are people out here doing positive things,” says organizer Christie Gardner.

Part of the proceeds are going to the Harrisburg Boxing Club, a nonprofit that gets youth involved with the sport. And part will go to the YMCA for its “Stop The Violence” program.
