A man was killed Monday night in a house fire in Lancaster County. Flames were first reported around 11 p.m. in the 200 block of East New Street in Mountville.

Firefighters arrived at the two-story home to find the residence fully engulfed in flames. Investigators said extreme hoarding conditions inside the home made fighting the fire difficult.

Firefighters were forced to fight the flames defensively from the outside.

Once the flames died down, investigators entered the home and found the body of a 75-year-old man on the second floor of the home.

The Lancaster County Coroner’s office has not yet identified the man who died in the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
