Fire damaged a warehouse and truck garage at the Adams Electric Cooperative’s York District office in West Manchester Township early Saturday. The fire started around 3:45 a.m. along the 200 block of Trinity Road.

The blaze caused extensive smoke damage to the warehouse and truck garage, according to a news release. The rest of the building sustained light damage.

“The fire did not affect the co-op’s ability to respond to outages in York County as trucks and equipment were pulled from Adams Electric’s Gettysburg District later Saturday morning,” said Duane Kanagy, Manager of Communications at Adams Electric Cooperative, Inc. “The co-op can also pull trucks and supplies from its Shippensburg District as needed. In addition, no major storms are forecast at this time.”

The office will reopen after the damage has been assessed and repairs have begun,  Kanagy said.

The fire remains under investigation.

Adams Electric serves 32,000 member-accounts in Franklin, Cumberland, Perry, Adams and York counties. About 11,000 members reside in the western and southern parts of York County.
