Truck hits horse and buggy: Girl taken to hospital

A morning crash between a tractor-trailer and a horse-and-buggy in Lancaster County ends with a young girl in the horse and buggy going to the hospital. It happened around 7:43am on the Old Philadelphia Pike near the intersection with Field Crest Lane in Leacock Township. The truck, a Peterbuilt driven by Jared Kreider, 24, of Lancaster, attempted to pass the buggy just as the buggy driver was attemting to turn left on Field Crest. The truck struck the horse and the carriage spun into a ditch on the side of the road.

A juvenile female in the buggy was transported by EMS. Kreider was not injured.

State Police would comment on the severity of the girl’s injuries at the time of this writing.
