COLD SPELL: In a matter of minutes, like a flood gate opening, warm air was rapidly replaced by much cooler air yesterday afternoon. The cold air has spilled in on a strong breeze. It’s worked to dry us out in many spots, but with sub-freezing temperatures in play, icy spots may develop on a few roadways. Temps are close to records this morning as we sit in the 20s to near 30°. The breeze will fizzle through midday with highs climbing only to the upper 40s to near 50°, despite plentiful sunshine. Tonight we see a few clouds, but with light winds expect another freeze in spots with frost on the windows.
WARMING: We slowly start to warm beginning Thursday. It’s mostly sunny with highs in the middle to upper 50s. A patchy frost is possible Friday morning, but the day will feature mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with highs near 60°. It’s still a bit cool for mid-April standards.
EASTER WEEKEND: Improvements to the holiday weekend keep showing up in the model trends. Rain for Saturday is still a possibility, but it’s looking less likely. Expect highs Saturday in the low 60s under partly cloudy skies with the chance for a handful of showers. Easter Sunday begins with temps near 40°. It’s a mild and dry day too with highs making their way to the low 60s. Enjoy!
NEXT WEEK: Our next weak disturbances make their way into the state. We do warm to more seasonal averages with highs into the middle 60s for Monday and Tuesday. However, we will have the shot at some showers on both days. Stay tuned!
