Lancaster City police were called to the 200 block of North Mulberry Street just before 8:00 p.m. Sunday for reports of a domestic disturbance over a child custody issue.

When police arrived, they found a woman and her children outside on the street. A man was also outside, but when he saw police, he went inside the home and barricaded himself on the second floor.

Police immediately evacuated neighbors on both sides of the building because the man was threatening to burn it down.

Police say witnesses in the area saw him using an aerosol can to make flames that came from the second floor window.

After an almost two hour standoff, the SWAT team entered the home through the back and took the man into custody.

Police say he was not injured but was taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.

The suspect will face charges. Police are still investigating.
