A Harrisburg man was sentenced in federal court today in Scranton to serve 235 months in prison for firearms charges. Carlos C. Hill, 42, pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a stolen firearm in March of 2013.
The charges were the result of an on-going partnership between the Dauphin County District Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced in August 2012 to respond to a surge of violent crime within the city.
The charges against Hill stem from an incident in which he brandished a stolen firearm at a woman in the 1600 Block of Park Street in Harrisburg. The firearm was subsequently recovered by the Harrisburg Police Bureau.
In addition to the prison term, Senior Judge Sylvia Rambo also ordered that Hill supervised by a probation officer for five years following his release from prison.
Hill was indicted by a federal grand jury on September 26, 2012, after an investigation conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and Harrisburg Police Bureau.
