A Steelton family doctor agrees to indefinite suspension of her license to practice medicine in Pennsylvania. An agreement was filed yesterday, April 22, between the Pa State Department and Dr. Maryjo Ellen Szada, in the wake of charges that Dr. Szada used Lysol to disinfect semi-critical medical instruments, specifically vaginal speculums.

The State Board of Medicine temporarily suspended Dr. Szada’s medical license on April 9.  Under the Consent Agreement and Order filed today, Dr. Szada’s is suspended indefinitely.  She must within the next 10 days surrender her wall certificate, biennial renewal certificate and wallet card.

The Order states Dr. Szada can reapply for reinstatement after she fulfills a list of terms and conditions. And even if her medical license is restored, she faces two years of probation.

Dr. Szada is also a member of Steelton Borough Council.
