The York City Fire Department held its annual memorial service Sunday evening.

The Kiltie Band of York led firefighters into St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church for the service. They paid tribute to 15 members of local fire companies who died in the past year, including retired city firefighters.

The departed members were honored with hymns and prayers.

“We will read the names of each member, and then we will ring the bell once just to recognize them for what they have done for the city and the department,” says Chief David Michaels of the York City Fire Department.
