York’s historic Prospect Hill Cemetery and Cremation Gardens teams up with York County Crime Stoppers to prevent cemetery vandalism with a reward and signage campaign. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for any information leading to an arrest of anyone involved in theft or vandalism at any York County cemetery.

This Crime Stoppers aided campaign was created because of the common occurrence of vandalism and theft at many York County cemeteries. In the past few years, three York County cemeteries; Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Fairview Cemetery and Prospect Hill Cemetery were all struck by vandalism.

As a leader in the community, we felt it was our obligation to be proactive and try to solve this problem. With the aid of Crime Stoppers, Prospect Hill created a cemetery vandalism prevention campaign. This campaign is our solution to bring about change and spread awareness regarding the attack on our local history.

A number of vandalism prevention signs were printed by Prospect Hill and will be available to all York County cemeteries. Any York County cemetery may contact Prospect Hill at 717-843-8006, regarding the allocation and posting of the Crime Stoppers signs. Anyone who wishes to anonymously provide information regarding theft or vandalism in any York County cemetery can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-722-0991 or text a tip to 274637 with keyword “Yorktips”.
