The tornadoes down south have changed thousands of lives and they’re not just human. The Lancaster SPCA is helping nearly two dozen dogs find new homes and new lives up north. Dog owner Darlene Baker spent part of Wednesday visiting the Lancaster SPCA and seeing all the dogs. “I wish that I had the financial means and the room because I would take all of them” said Baker.

Baker said her heart breaks seeing the dog’s faces which show the pain of what it’s like to have their lives turned upside down. Lancaster SPCA’s Jennifer Nields said “we got a little over twenty dogs. They came up from Tupelo Mississippi where the tornado had struck them.”

All the dogs are under five years old and most of them are puppies. They first arrived at the Lancaster SPCA on Tuesday and were visibly shaken, but have calmed down significantly. The dogs are currently undergoing health checks before they can be formally adopted starting on Saturday. “They’re all loving, very loving healthy dogs. Beautiful dogs and they deserve people’s love” said Baker.

The Lancaster SPCA is open to the public if you want to visit and see the dogs. They are open from 10AM to 7PM Monday through Saturday and on Sunday from 11AM to 6PM. They are located at 599 Chesapeake St, Lancaster, PA 17602.

You can also help by donating dog food, beds or toys. However nothing helps more than a loving home. You can contact the Lancaster SPCA directly by calling this number: (717) 917 6979
