Wildlife experts are now able to track four young falcons.  Officials with the Department of Environmental Protection hosted an annual falcon banding event in Harrisburg.  Biologists weighed the birds and placed a metal band around their left legs.  Wildlife officials will use the codes to monitor the birds after they leave the nest.

DEP secretary, Christopher Abruzzo says, “It’s a great opportunity to show the children how much we care about all species, not just those on the endangered species list, but it’s important to learn what we can about the animals and birds that live in our environment.”

A U.S. Fish and Wildlife service band was placed on the birds’ right leg.  The band registers them on the Federal Banding Database.
