ROUND ROCK, Texas – A Texas man is facing up to life in prison for his baking habit. Joe Lavoro said, “It’s outrageous. It’s crazy. I don’t understand it.”

Lavoro says he can’t understand why his son is in so much legal trouble. Authorities say 19-year-old Jacob Lavoro is accused of making and selling pot brownies.

He is being charged with a first-degree felony. Lavoro said, “Five years to life? I’m sorry. I’m a law abiding citizen. I’m a conservative. I love my country. I’m a Vietnam veteran, but I’ll be damned. This is wrong.”

Jack Holmes, Lavoro’s attorney, said, “I was outraged. I’ve been doing this 22 years as a lawyer and I’ve got 10 years as a police officer and I’ve never seen anything like this before.”

The charge is so severe because the recipe Jacob used includes hash oil, which allows the state to use the sugar, cocoa, butter and other ingredients to determine the weight of the drugs.

Holmes said, “They’ve weighed baked goods in this case. It ought to be a misdemeanor.”

Lavoro said, “If he did something wrong, he should be punished but to the extent that makes sense. This is illogical. I’m really upset and I’m frightened. I’m frightened for my son.”

This stuff makes me so mad I can't see straight. These Nazi's keep this war going against our citizens with ZERO evidence weed will cause harm to anybody. They started this war in 1937 when prohibition ended so they would still have a reason to exist. It's time to stop ! Pot has never hurt ANYBODY and helps millions. Pot laws have ruined millions of lives. Wake up America and put an end to this madness !!!

We have a problem in Texas with foul DAs trying to pad their records on the back of the innocent or barely guilty. Jenifer Tharp of Comal DA is also going after justin Carter over freespeech because she is like the Williamson County DA…. FOUL and Cunning and willing to hurt innocent people and let go of the guilty so that their records look good.

Their malfesence is a detrement to soceity and bad DAs should be removed at all costs.

if you wouldn't charge someone differently for liquor as opposed to beer you shouldn't charge more harshly for hash oil than weed for one thing, because it's not a different chemical, it's the same thing in a higher concentration. the difference in laws was probably put in place by self interested economic concerns, the same reason pot is demonized. the courts should follow the spirit of the law and look at the physical substance of what was going on instead oflooking to erroneous and improper policies that were put in place by dishonest tactioning that insults the populace and the government it selects. i'd saylet him go free, they might have edited some words into the legal code saying no one's supposed to do this, but if you really consider it it's not a criminal event, it's not something you'd make a law about if there wasnt one and you saw it happening
