In Lancaster County, a blast from the past– 1940 to be more specific– complete with tanks, trucks, tents, and soldiers.

It’s part of the WWII Encampment at the Campus of History in Lancaster Township. In honor of veterans and those who served our country, more than 75 reenactors are giving locals the chance to talk to soldiers, explore vehicles, and see what it was like in 1940.

Event organizers explain the impact of  WWII.

“It was a change for women, it was a social change. It put the United States on a world stage. Men and women went and basically just saved the world,” said Living History Coordinator Tim Kuntz.

If you haven’t visited the soldiers yet, you can still catch them this weekend. The event will continue tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
