Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett and First Lady Susan Corbett made a stop in Glen Rock, York County on Monday.

The pair presented the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Academics to three schools in the Southern York County School District.  They gave the award to Southern Elementary School, Susquehannock High School, and Shrewsbury Elementary School for attaining a score of 90 or higher on the 2012, 2013 school performance profile.

Governor Corbett says, “This is a recognition of the hard work, the loyalty and the dedication that all these people have put into it.”

The Governor, First Lady, and the Lieutenant Governor are visiting high performing schools across Pennsylvania.  Statewide, 428 schools attained a score of 90 or higher.

It is nice that Corbett acknowledged the efforts of our students and staff. That is more than our superintendent did.
