Nest Labs recalls 440,000 smoke & carbon monoxide detectors

Nest Labs has issued a recall of 440,000 smoke and carbon monoxide alarms because they may not sound right away if there is an emergency.

The company says its Nest Protect: Smoke + CO Alarms may not go off if the “Nest Wave” feature is in use. The alarms have a feature that allows users to silence certain alerts by waving their arms near the units.

An automatic software update is available, and can be downloaded if the device is connected to the Internet.
