Hanover Borough Police are investigating a string of thefts from vehicles and arson attacks that happened over night Saturday.

“As soon as I came out, I noticed what looked like new tint on our windows and I opened the car door and obviously someone had vandalized and burned the inside of our car,” said Jay Aburn.

The Aburn’s car is just one of several that was broken into and set on fire during the early morning hours of Saturday.

“The seats are dearsonstroyed; in the back we have a car seat, that’s destroyed,” he said. “A stroller that was left in the car, that’s destroyed, and a hanging high chair and some toys.”

Hanover Borough Police say the first call came in shortly after 4 a.m.  A garage and two vehicles along Moul Avenue were in flames.

Shortly after, they received several other reports of car break-ins and thefts along East Walnut Street, Blossom Drive and Spencer Drive.

Those who live in the area say they’re surprised by the crime, saying they’ve always felt safe in their neighborhoods.

“I’ve been here for 9 years and I’ve never seen anything like that,” said Josue Salazar.  My son is great; I feel good here.”

“We have three police officers that live within 20 feet of our homes so it is scary that something like that could happen,” Aburn added.
