Carlisle man charged after police recover stolen property

A Carlisle man was arrested Wednesday after police recovered stolen items on his property.  Douglas W. Miller, 52, is charged with two counts of receiving stolen property and one count of possession of narcotics.

The items were taken during a burglary on May 24  along the 400 block of Fairground Avenue in Carlisle. Investigators executed a search warrant of Miller’s home and found a stolen jewelry box and prescription medications that did not belong to him.

Police said Miller was living in “deplorable conditions” and that his home did not have any electricity.

The house has now been condemned by Carlisle Borough Codes officers, investigators said.

Miller was arrested and taken to Cumberland County Prison on a York County Parole detainer.
