In downtown York, the fight is on against heroin.
Dozens of people stood on the four corners of Continental Square on Saturday, hoping to get the attention of drivers and pedestrians passing through.
They’re part of the group “Hope vs. Heroin” which is trying to make everyone in our area aware that heroin is gaining popularity and can make an addict out of anyone.
“Heroin has become a serious problem, it’s taking our kids at an alarming rate, we need the government officials, we need representatives, we need everybody to get involved with this as much as possible,” said Tracy Lawrence-Felton, co-founder of the group.
She lost her son Aaron to a heroin overdose in 2010, when he was just 20-years old.
She and others in her group encourage parents to talk to their children about heroin, and all drugs, because she says no one is immune to their effects.
