Armed robbery/shooting in Steelton Boro

Steelton Borough Police say a man suffered a gunshot wound during an early morning robbery. It happened just about midnight along the 300 block of North Front Street.

The victim identified as Christopher Haigh. He told investigators that he was walking to his vehicle which was in the parking lot of Advance Auto Parts. While answering a call on his cell phone, he was approached by two armed mask men emerging from the darkness. They ordered him onto the ground and then went through his pockets and took his cell phone and wallet.  One of men struck Haigh in the area of his forehead.

Haigh said that as soon as he was able he got up and started to run across the street. As he was running he heard a single gun shot and realized that he had been hit. He taken to Harrisburg Hospital for treatment.

Both male suspects were dressed in black clothes and had black masks with the eyes and the bridge of the nose exposed.

According to a witness, a dark in color sedan “ran up on” the victim he was standing by his car and then heard a single gunshot. The witness told investigators that the dark colored sedan then traveled south on North Front Street.
