Administrators at a high school in Lycoming County cancel a musical students were set to perform next spring.  South Williamsport’s Junior Senior High School students were planning to do a performance of Broadway’s Monty Python’s Spamalot, but the subject matter was determined to be inappropriate for students.

Dawn Burch, the director of drama department said that she received an email saying the musical would be dropped because of its homosexual themes.  The controversial content in question being a homosexual wedding.

“If it’s a controversial issue and there are other choices that would be less controversial, I would support the school,” said Manny Tskitas from South Williamsport.

“It’s doesn’t bother me,” said Jodi Cogley, whose child attends South Williamsport High School.

In the email, Burch says the principal wrote that homosexuality does not exist in a conservative community such as South Williamsport.
