Severe weather knocks out power for thousands in Lancaster and Berks counties. Gusting winds uprooted trees, knocked down power-lines and damaged transformers.  Nearly three thousand PPL customers lost power at the height of the storms in Lancaster County.

Residents in Manheim Borough and surrounding Rapho Township reported heavy damage. PPL crews used heavy equipment to remove storm debris on West Ferdinand Street in the borough Wednesday evening.

PPL declared a storm emergency at Noon today.
