In Dauphin County, as Independence Day festivities continue, heroes from all walks of life will be receiving a special honor.

People gathered to attend the groundbreaking for “Heroes Grove” at Brightbill Park in Lower Paxton Township. The memorial is a new tribute to all who serve our country including veterans, first responders, and even teachers.

“We thought it would be appropriate for Dauphin County to have a place which would be a living memorial to those who have served rather than just granite and marble and various types of plaques that you usually see, this will have that as well, there will also be amphitheater where there can be live performances , memorial day services, and a great gathering place for our community,” Heroes Grove Committee spokesperson Lowman Henry said.

The tribute is expected to become a $3 million project.
