Police: Man stops tow truck driver to retrieve marijuana from SUV

A man was arrested after he stopped a tow truck driver in front of police to retrieve his marijuana from an SUV in Steelton on July 9, investigators said. Brian Michael Johnson, 28, of Conway, South Carolina, is charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers contacted a tow company after they spotted a vehicle blocking an alley along the 200 block of South River Alley around 1 a.m.

According to police reports, Johnson asked officers if he could get something from his vehicle before they towed it away.  Johnson was subsequently arrested after he grabbed a baggie of marijuana from the vehicle.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 19.
