A female New York firefighter is breaking the glass ceiling by being the first woman to ever make the FDNY Calendar of Heroes.

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the department and the first time a woman has graced the pages of the popular calendar.

Danae Mines, has been a firefighter for 11 years and decided that this was the year she was going to earn that big honor.

Mines was selected from more than 100 male applicants to appear in the calendar and represent the month of March, which just happens to be women’s history month.

All of the money raised from sales of the calendars go towards fire safety and prevention as well as the FDNY Foundation.
