Former Miss Delaware, Amanda Longacre, is suing the Miss America organization after it stripped her of her crown for being being too old.
Longacre filed the lawsuit on Tuesday saying the organization had proof of her age and disqualified her unfairly.
In the suit, Longacre is seeking $3 million in damages, $2.5 million to be shared by contestants who were certified to compete, then disqualified and $500,000 to herself.
Currently, the Miss America organization is allowing her to keep the $9,000 in scholarship money, but she also wants the chance to compete at Miss America in September.
She claims she was never told by her state officials that she would be too old to compete in the pageant and wants her title as Miss Delaware restored.
